10 Songs That Could Make a Late Run for ‘Song of the Summer’

Posted on by Ryan Wallis

As most predicted, Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’, Ariana Grande’s ‘Problem’, MAGIC!’s ‘Rude’, Calvin Harris’ ‘Summer’, and a handful of others have burned their way in to our collective consciousness and dominated our airwaves up to this point of the summer.

BUT, summer is only half way over…it’s time to freshen up those playlists!

We’ve put together a list of 10 potential smash hits that could make a late push for the coveted ‘song of the summer’ title.

Charli XCX ‘Boom Clap’

You can hear her voice all over the hook of Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’, which most people have already declared as the front runner for song of the summer, but her solo effort ‘Boom Clap’ hits with enough hooks to give ‘Fancy’ a run for its money.

Usher ‘She Came To Give It To You’ feat Nicki Minaj

When you combine Usher, NIcki Minaj, and the production stylings of Pharrell Williams, that’s a recipe for a summer smash.

Kiesza ‘Hideaway’

Ok sure, we’ve been playing Kiesza’s 90s dance inspired ‘Hideaway’ for a minute, but we were just ahead of the curve. It’s now soaring up the charts in the States, and our Canadian native just snagged herself a VMA nomination!

Tiesto ‘Wasted’ feat Matthew Koma

It mades fields of festival goers collectively loose their minds all summer long, and it’ll get the same reaction when you spin it at your next house party.

Demi Lovato ‘Really Don’t Care’ feat Cher Lloyd

Demi is climbing the Hot 100 chart with her latest single ‘Really Don’t Care’ sitting at #30 this week. Who doesn’t want a care free summer? This is a song to inspire one!

Katy Perry ‘This Is How We Do’

If there’s one lady who knows how to dominate the charts, it’s Katy Perry! With the lyric video dropping this week for her party starting new single ‘This Is How We Do’, we all could be singing every word for the rest of the summer and beyond.

Clean Bandit ‘Rather Be’ feat Jesse Glynn

This song has been a bonafide smash in the UK for awhile, and we’re now getting wise to it in North America. With good reason too…just try not to sing a long to this one!

Pitbull ‘Fireball’

Pitbull just released ‘Fireball’ and announced his upcoming new album Globalization this week, but the song and beat are so infectious that it may burn up the charts in a real hurry…pun intended!

Sia ‘Chandelier’

Aided by an incredible music video featuring a choreographed dance routine by 11 year old Maddie Zeigler, ‘Chandelier’ has racked up a ton of YouTube views, and the song is quickly climbing the charts. Also, it helps that Sia is one of the most gifted song writers of our time.

Enrique Iglesias ‘Bailando’ feat Sean Paul

The latin rhythm on this track will make you dance and sweat like you’re at a beach party in Caribbean!
